Another thing to note is the targeted audience. If the locus of your prospective customers is based on social media- say you are a mobile app developer looking to sell their apps to Smartphone owners- you need to tap that source more.

No one turns to the newspaper to look for an app to create Instagram-ready images.

RESPONSIVE CLASSROOM - IT BEGINS WITH THE MORNING MEETING

In a classroom, a strong community is fundamental.

The children are expected to work well together, openly share their ideas, and take academic risks in order to grow and learn as an individual and student. But how does one successfully build this sense of community? Simply stated - the Morning Meeting.

The Morning Meeting has four essential parts: the greeting, share, the activity, and the morning message. To begin the meeting, children properly greet one another using eye contact, a pleasant voice, and a firm handshake. Commencing the meeting with a greeting gives a sense of belonging to each student which is an essential component when working on building a solid community.

During the share, children are encouraged to listen as another student shares an important story or event in their life. Likewise, the children are asked to respond with a comment or a question regarding that particular student’s share. Often times, children want to reply with a similar activity they too have experienced, rather than responding to the speaker’s share. Thus listening to one another begins in the circle every morning. With this daily activity, the students are learning about their peers while they are gaining invaluable communication skills that will hopefully last a lifetime.

Another facet of the Morning Meeting is the activity. Taking part in the activity is crucial. When children do so, they are unassumingly taking risks they would not normally take in an academic setting. Participating in an unfamiliar game or being the leader of an activity can be intimidating to many youngsters, and as educators, it is important to teach children how to overcome these feelings in a safe and nurturing environment. With gentle guidance and support from their peers and teacher, children eventually learn that taking a risk can result in a positive outcome, building self confidence. As a result, children become comfortable with their environment and genuine learning in an academic setting takes place.

The final component of the meeting is the morning message. The message can set the stage for the learning that lies ahead, or it can be used to review previously learned information. Either way, their minds are reflecting upon the material and the children are engaged early in the day, anticipating the day’s lesson. 

The components of this daily gathering work simultaneously allowing each individual to thrive. It begins in the Morning Meeting - where effective learning takes place, listening is appreciated and valued by all.

Labour Day Celebration

International Labour Day is a celebration of labourers and the working classes, promoted by the international labour movement, anarchists, socialists, and communists. It takes place every year on May 1 which also matches with the Celtic spring festival. The theme of the International Labour Day of 2016 is ' Celebrating the International Labour Movement'.

  We all very well know the value of work. Every year we celebrate labour day to convey our thank you and to pay our tribute to our class IV employees who are a very important part of our institution.

 This year on 1st May this event was conducted by our school. Students performed a skit so as to tell us the value of work. We sang hymns to make our staff happy and support them. Then, we were told about some of the very Senior members of the school Support Staff. We were also made to realize that work should be equally distributed and no work is big or small. We should perform our work without expecting anything in return.

   At our Special Assembly on Labour Day we were told that we all are born equal and as humans we have the power to do anything and everything. We should not depend on someone else to do our work. No task is big or small its only our interest towards it that makes it so.

  Thus we should not leave our work to be done by others and also work towards the development of our labour class community. This alone will lead to the development of our country.

Earth Day

We are now entering the 46th year of a movement that continues to inspire, challenge ideas, ignite passion, and motivate people to action.

In 1970, the year of our first Earth Day, the movement gave voice to an emerging consciousness, channeling human energy toward environmental issues. Forty-six years later, we continue to lead with groundbreaking ideas and by the power of our example.

And so it begins. Today. Right here and right now. Earth Day is more than just a single day — April 22, 2016. It’s bigger than attending a rally and taking a stand.

This day is every year celebrated in our school with lots of joy. Charts were put up in small galleries and auditoriums showing the poor condition of the earth. Some of the charts depicted various methods for the prevention of pollution. Each and every child contributed to make this day a memorable one. They also showed the three ways in which we can prevent the pollution. These were 'Reuse', 'Reduce' and 'Recycle'. Our Principal, Mrs B. Gill planted saplings of Ashoka tree in the school campus.

This Earth Day and beyond, let’s make big stuff happen. Let’s plant 7.8 billion trees for the Earth. Let’s divest from fossil fuels and make cities 100% renewable. Let’s take the momentum from the Paris Climate Summit and build on it.

Let’s start now. And let’s not stop.

                             President's Message...

With the beginning of another new Academic Session - 2016 'The Heritage School' celebrates its 63rd Anniversary. My heartiest congratulations to all !

   This school that both, current students and the Alumni call 'home' has never been stronger. It has today, successfully established itself as a top educational choice for students and parents of the Doon Valley.

Every new Academic Session is a time of transition. I watch new students join the school and the 'returning' students grow and develop into fine youngsters, capable and confident. I measure time passing by in Semesters and Sports Seasons. Walking past classrooms I am very impressed with the level of effort of the students and staff. To sustain and maximize this will be my commitment. I thank our positive minded and resulted oriented faculty for setting benchmarks !

   In the end, I convey my grateful thanks to all our well wishers, parents and alumni for their continuous support. It will be my endeavor to see that students of 'The Heritage School' grow not only in academic skills but also show strong emotional maturity. Importance of School Libraries

A library is a building or a room containing many books for reading and reference. Public libraries have a large collection of books which people can read and borrow as members or subscribers.

The importance of library in schools is immense. There should be at least one library in every school, whether it is a primary, secondary or higher secondary school. The school library should be updated regularly. There should be introduction of new version of books at regular intervals. The books that contain the latest information and bases on the latest syllabus should only be kept in the library. When students get ample opportunity to study in a calm atmosphere with appropriate infrastructure, then it will result in better result at the exams.

In the contest of library, the role and importance of a librarian deserves special mention. Even a small library must have a librarian. The librarian’s task is to arrange the books systematically according to subjects in different shelves. He or she makes a catalogue of books and authors alphabetically. Each is given an accession number. There must be a register to record the issues and return of books. In big libraries there are several library assistants to help the librarian. They possess a degree of a recognized institution teaching librarianship.

Modern libraries are computerizing the system of work. Gradually CDs (Compact Disc) may replace voluminous books like encyclopedias. Readers will just touch one or two keys or click the mouse to get the necessary information flashed on the monitor. It is very important to acquire the habit of regularly visiting the library. Whatever the teachers teach should be supplemented with library-work. That makes study both sound and satisfactory.

The Pen Is Mightier than the Sword

The pen is usually linked with writing. It helps the writer to record his thoughts on paper. Sword is a weapon used forcefully against someone. A sword can be wielded well only by those who are physically fit. But words can flow from the pen of even a feeble man. If he is a good writer, he can use the words to their desired effect. Many great writers had inspired revolutions. The French revolution for example was the result of the writings of great French writers like Rousseau. Writings can evoke different emotions as love, hatred, sympathy etc. It is something that is to be regarded with awe and respect. Hence pen is a mightier device than the sword. 

The English words "The pen is mightier than the sword" were first written by novelist and playwright Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839, in his historical play Cardinal Richelieu.

"The pen is mightier than the sword" means a person can cause people to change their opinions(e.g., to fight a war)and on a large scale whereas a sword can only change a person's opinion by force and then often only results in the person's death.

 Writing is priceless. Can we pay back for the stories told in our childhood - by parents, grandparents, teachers and elder siblings. Can we pay back for the stories read during our childhood from storybooks. The power of a pen is enormously larger than a sword. What a sharp edged sword can't achieve can be achieved by the help of a minute tip of a pen. What it implies is that the power of writing is much stronger than the power of hatred, war and fighting. 

Writing has built and destroyed kingdoms. Writing has created peace during wars and created wars during peace. Writing has made the whole world unite to fight against an evil. That is the power of writing. A fight can impact on two or more people, a war may impact thousands of people but a book can shake the whole world. A book can turn dark into light, slavery into freedom, dumb into speech, weak into powerful, and poor into rich.
